Loan of Digital Device
Oskarshamns kommun allows you to borrow a computer or tablet (digital device) during your study period. Here you will find information about the rules and responsibilities for borrowing it. The rules apply both during school hours and in your free time.
If you, as a student, choose to decline the offer to borrow a personal digital device, the school offers to lend you a digital device during lesson time. Such a short-term loaned device is not personal and may not be taken home or to any other place outside the school without the responsible teacher's permission.
When borrowing and using a digital device, the following applies to you as a student and your parents or guardians.
Ownership and Control
- Ownership: Oskarshamns kommun owns the digital device you borrow. The device is intended to be used during your study period and must be returned in good condition at the end of the loan period.
- Transfer of Digital Device: You do not have the right to sell, pledge, lend, rent out, or otherwise transfer the equipment in a way that may affect Oskarshamns kommun ownership rights.
- Control of Account and Digital Device: Oskarshamns kommun has the right to check the account and the digital device provided to ensure that the rules are followed and that the equipment is used correctly.
Student and Guardian Responsibilities
- Care and Maintenance: You must take care of the digital device. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment is not damaged, destroyed, deteriorated beyond normal wear and tear, or lost.
- Login Details: You are responsible for protecting your login details and not sharing them with anyone else. You always log in with your own login details.
- Software: You may not distribute or manipulate the software and digital tools used in the school. Any installed programs or apps must be licensed. It is forbidden to copy software from the equipment and install it on other equipment (e.g., at home) unless a teacher or system administrator has given written permission.
- Content: The school's code of conduct applies both in the digital and physical spaces. The digital device must not contain material that violates current legislation, such as incitement, hate speech, offensive content, defamation, or insult. If there is suspicion of a crime, a police report may be filed. School staff may confiscate the digital device if it is used in a way that disrupts education, is offensive to students or staff, or poses a safety risk in education. The school's zero-tolerance policy against harassment also applies online.
Damages and Losses
- Damages Due to Negligence or Intent: If you damage the computer or tablet intentionally or through negligence, you or your guardians must pay for the damage (liability applies based on civil law).
- Damages in Case of Accidents, Theft, and Robbery: If the digital device is damaged or stolen, you and your guardian must immediately report it to your school. If the equipment is stolen, your guardian must also file a police report and provide a copy of the report to your school. Oskarshamns kommun will then determine whether the damage or loss was caused intentionally or through negligence in such a way that you or your guardians need to pay for the damage or loss. In the case of an accident, i.e., when you were not negligent and could not foresee that damage would occur, or in the case of theft from a student locker in a locked classroom or locked student locker, you or your guardians do not need to pay for the damage or loss.
Return
- At the End of the Loan Period: You must return the digital device no later than the day the loan period ends.
- In Case of Interruption or Completion of Education: If you interrupt or leave the education during the contract period, the equipment must be returned immediately. The digital device must be returned complete and in good condition.
- Cost if You Do Not Return the Device: If the borrowed digital device is not returned in good condition, you or your guardians will have to pay the difference between what the device is worth when you return it and what it would be worth if it had been well taken care of.
Processing of Personal Data
Oskarshamns kommun processes your personal data to establish the right to equal education. We process your personal data under Article 6(e) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (the processing is necessary as part of the data controller's exercise of official authority). In connection with the handling of the equipment, personal data such as name and email will be registered in an inventory list to administer distribution and return. Your personal data will be saved until the digital device is returned. You have the right to receive information about all personal data about you that the municipality processes. If your personal data is incorrect, you can request correction from the municipality. For any complaints about personal data processing, you can contact the municipality at phone number 010-35 60 000 or the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection via email at imy@imy.se.
